The 15th of each month is the day for the « mid-month-theme » - subway – which I share with bloggers in NYC and Stockholm. This month’s theme is “above ground”.
Most of the Paris metro lines are crossing the Seine under water, but some of the first lines (the one you see here is from 1905) were built with bridge crossings - easier and at the time considered as less risky than to make under-water-tunnels.
In September last year I showed a metro train on the Pont de Bir-Haikem. The above photo was taken last week, showing a train on the same bridge, in the opposite direction, towards the Passy area (16th arrdt.). I repeat that this bridge has the particularity of being built for trains, cars, bikes, pedestrians… and, in my opinion, the bridge is really beautiful.

ReplyDeleteIt's sort of a contradiction to have a subway above ground but when travelling I really prefer being able to see something. And especially when I'm using the subway being a tourist in some city.

I love the 2nd photo mainly because of the beautiful Eiffel Tower in the background and the train looks suspended in mid-air.

J'aime bien la photo de septembre dernier, elle montre un bateau en plus du train et un beau cuiel pommelé
ReplyDeleteAuj. même si l'on ne déteste pas qu'il fasse un temps d'hiver, ce qui est mon cas, l'on se sent pris par le froid et le ciel gris et c'est un peu, beaucoup ce que l'on ressent sur ta photo récente
J'aime bien le RER A entre Nanterre et Cergy pour ce qu'il nous fait traverser la Seine plusieurs fois, et l'Oise. Les lignes de métro aériennes sont bien agréables aussi pour cela : la vue imprenable bien sûr
