Mid-month-theme: subway day

I was kindly invited to join a common “mid-month-theme” about subways (or underground, metro, tunnelbana…), previously shared between New York and Stockholm. This month’s subject is "the exterior of a metro (subway…) station by night".

One photo should be chosen to illustrate the subject. I had to fight with myself not to include a few more according to my habits. (As a compromise, you can find a few more photos on my photo blog.)

This one was taken a few days (nights) ago at the metro station Place de Clichy, one of the stations decorated by Hector Guimard around 1900.

You can find today’s posts and some others linked to the metro theme by using the below links.

Welcome to the subway theme photo group. Sorry we had to impose on the ONE PHOTO rule. :-)

Maybe tomorrow you can post extra photos.

Yes, sorry about that "one" limit... ;)

Good choice, Peter. Welcome to the theme and have a happy transatlantic subway day!

Thanks for inviting me!

Well, I cheated a bit. There are more photos on my other blog.

As they say, Peter: "Within discipline we find the greatest freedom" (I've never quite worked that one out) but it has done well for you here. Good choice...so much "happening".

One wants light and noise and gaiety before descending underground, I think.

Hi Peter!
Congratulations to be a member of
“mid-month-theme” about subways.
Your photos are always excellent!

Have a successful time!

A lot more ambiance than during the day ;-)

Off the topic, but touching on the transportation strike - my friends in Paris blame Sarkozy for all the ills, while French press reports his approval rating at 70%!
Whom should I believe?

It is really interesting to study them by contrast and comparison. I like the theme :)

I have attained an age when you should have learnt to be disciplined!

annie:
The noice is there also undergound and you are seldom alone. The gaiety? Maybe stay upstairs, you are right!

lyliane:
Les photos sant prises sans pied!

Thanks!

isabella:
I believe the thruth is somewhere between. The majority is against the strike, maybe some 60%. Sarkozy's general popularity should be on some 55% level.

Your photo makes me want to go to Paris immediately - or maybe I'll wait for the striking season to end first.

Happy subway day!

mona:
Yes, all cities are not alike - fortunately! Thanks for your comments "everywhere" today!!

noushy syah:
Well, I think that in my case, the camera makes it all; everything always on automatic!
Thanks - I will be a frequent visitor also on your interesting blog (although I may be a bit, not completely, absent the next coming weeks)!

peter f:
Yes, maybe better wait a few days (how many?)

Have you seen the movie subway ?? A great film. I am in love with subways since I watched that... much before I visited Paris.

And I am back !

Peter said...

cuckoo:
Yes, I loved that film (Luc Besson, Isabelle Adjani...). Must be already some 20 years old. (Of course you must have seen it later.)

Peter said...

catherine:
"Parigot", you want a translation. I have not been able to find the origin of the word, but it's of course slang ("argot") for a Parisian, not always meant as a compliment!

Hector Guimard or Cyril Guimard ?

"Ca ! C'est Paris !"

Kate said...

It's a great night shot to show the activity. And, I'm glad that you were able to discipline yourself to one photo--nice job!!

Peter said...

cergie:

annie:
It was not easy to limit to one photo (and I cheated with my photo blog)!
