Last Friday I indicated that the last post on the Jardin du Ranelagh would follow today. Well, it will probably be tomorrow.
Yesterday I watched (together with kids and grandkids) a parade, which took place in the (major) Paris Chinatown (13th arrondissement), celebrating the Chinese new Year. The weather was perfect and the streets where more than crowded. A great success!
It was quite noisy with a lot of explosions!
Afterwards it was time to go shopping for e.g. a delicious Peking (Beijing) roast duck!
I already said it last week, but I repeat:
Xin Nian Kuai Le 新年快乐 and Gong Xi Fa Cai 恭喜发财!!!
I would also like to mention that I received another blogger award! An “E” for Excellence! It was given to me by Jessica. I would definitely recommend that you visit her very nice site! It’s called “artsmarts4kids” and is as the name indicates, basically but far from only, made for a young public; it gives a very good introduction to art and artists! There are so (too) many of you to whom I would like to give the same award, but for the moment I keep it egoistically just for myself!

I can feel the vibes in Chinatown over there and the fire crackers too. Sadly, fire crackers are not allowed here in Singapore so not too much noise as you can imagine ya.

Quelle superbe parade!! Des couleurs, des costumes somptueux, une ambiance conviviale, je me souviens d'avoir assisté déjà à cette grande fête. Mais il nous faudrait tant "d'oeils" et tant de mains pour tout voir et tout immortaliser dans notre petite boite.

PS. Petite virée à Paris samedi... sans appareil, juste le temps de faire ma provision de livres et de musique... "La rêveuse d'Ostende" entre autres... très beau livre.

Tu as eu la chance d'y aller, avec ce temps, j'aurai préféré venir hier plutôt que la semaine dernière, mais dans le temple bouddhiste, j'y ai vu toutes les préparations et toi la suite, ça complète mon post d'aujourd'hui.
Jessica a trouvé la récompense qui est faite pour toi seul. C'est de l'excellence tes poste et commentaires sur Paris.

c'est marrant parceque 'E' c'est la plus mauvaise note à l'ecole primaire ;o)). je plaisante, tu merites totalement ce titre (ta salle des trophés est vraiment impressionnante).

I was also surprised to see that the crackers obvioulsy are allowed here! Hundreds of them and a lot fireworks (whihc normally is forbidden in Paris)! But it was all very nice!

Très vif ce post, sauf que tu t'es débrouillé pour qu'on croie qu'il faisait assez mauvais (photo du haut. OK c'était un effet de lumière dans les branches) alors que le temps était génial dimanche

Ce que je préfère qt à moi c'est l'explosion des pétards. Comme elle est très réussie, les mauvais esprits ont été chassés efficacement et l'année du Rat nous sera propice à tous. C'est ce que je nous souhaite aujourd'hui encore

Je sais que tu t’ennuis avec mes posts habituels. Tant mieux donc, si je peux te faire un petit plaisir de temps en temps ! Eh oui, je ne sais pas pourquoi, mais j’ai tendance de plutôt photographier des filles que des garçons. Si, c’est en fonction de nombre des explosions, je pense que l’année 2008 sera très bonne !

Beautiful and colorful pics.That's what CNY is all about..with fire crackers the main events as the Chinese beliefs by burning fire crackers they are chasing away the bad spirit or ghost.
I think they also belief during the 15days from the new moon till full moon which takes place for 15 days, they must not sweep the house for the purpose of good luck <--not to sweep the good luck..
I'm sure you noticed that most of the fire crackers,the hangbao(money given by married couples only to the non-married) is in red sachet with tangerine as a must in the CNY celebration.

I didn't know that there are so big celebrations in Chinese tradition. It almost looks like carnival and you were more lucky with the weather ;-)
